The other day I caught a glimpse of a very strange trike cruising by. The rider was sitting much higher than expected and the whole thing looked like some kind of strange chariot. We went to an awards banquet last night and there it was in the parking lot! I only grabbed a couple of shots as we walked past, but they put me on the right track.

The whole thing is designed for wheelchair access and has all the amenities one would expect in a full-dresser, including a stereo and luggage compartments. The rig is built by !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . I’ve never seen anything like it, so I have no idea what it rides like. I’ve started asking around to see if I can figure out who owns it. Perhaps i can talk him into giving an Oppo review!

Motorcycle setup for use with a wheelchair? I’d start by asking people in wheelchairs and leathers....

It’s cool, but would it make a good first bike?

Only if you are currently wheelchair-bound.

If I’d seen any fitting that description at the awards banquet, I would have asked. As it is, most of the motorcyclists I see on the street here in Louisiana don’t wear leather.

I just saw a one legged guy on a Harley trike when I went to lunch.

That thing is awesome! It reminds me of the wheelchair-trike in Silver Bullet.

Hopefully they have some type of protective equipment when riding... but then again, we are talking about ‘murica!

They’re in a wheelchair and fully encased. What exactly would they need leathers for?

After my grandfather had a stroke, his second wife left him for a one-legged Harley guy. She was the kind of old lady that scared kids when she’d ask for a kiss. Never knew why he married her in the first place.

I’ve seen one out on the road. I’m sure it’s not the most nimble thing, but it’s awesome that it lets folks keep on riding.
